WASHINGTON D.C. – Former National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) Deputy Executive Director Jeff Burton and former Republican National Committee (RNC) Deputy Chief of Staff Scott Kamins today announced the founding of Burton Kamins Advocacy, a new government and public affairs consulting firm based in Washington, DC.

“Successful advocacy hinges on an ability to understand the interplay between public policy debates in Washington and the rapidly changing realities of the political landscape.  Our clients will be the beneficiaries of precisely designed and implemented strategic advocacy efforts rooted in our unique experiences working at the intersection of policy and politics,” Burton and Kamins said.  “We will offer clients a broad range of services, including government relations, strategic communications, grassroots mobilization and management of issue advocacy campaigns.  The firm also will offer business development consulting services to help companies identify and pursue commercial partnerships and provide clients with strategic counsel on how investments could be affected by developments in the policymaking process.”

As Deputy Executive Director of the NRCC, Jeff Burton served as a senior political strategist for the House Republican leadership and led the Young Guns program founded by Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy and Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan.  He was integrally involved in every targeted House race in the country throughout the last four years; a period which saw Republicans win their largest and second largest majorities since 1948.  Prior to his tenure at the NRCC, Burton served on the senior staff of then-Republican Whip Eric Cantor, where he led coalitions on the most prominent issues of the 111th Congress -- economic stimulus, health care reform, energy legislation, cap-and-trade, card check and more.  He came to Washington as Chief of Staff to now-Chairman Mike Conaway (R-TX).

Scott Kamins co-founded the firm following his tenure as a Director (Vice President) at Prime Policy Group, a subsidiary of Burson-Marsteller Public Relations, one of Washington’s leading public affairs firms.  He worked on a broad range of economic, international trade, national security and technology policy issues for a host of corporate and trade association clients.  He previously served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Director of Government Affairs at the RNC, where he worked to develop and coordinate political strategy with Republican Congressional leadership and was the RNC’s principal liaison to Members of Congress, Governors and State legislators and the government affairs community.  During the Bush Administration, Mr. Kamins served on Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice’s team as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Legislative Affairs and Director of House Affairs.  In these capacities, he managed and executed strategies to enhance Congressional support for the Administration’s key foreign and international economic policy priorities on both sides of the political aisle.  Earlier, he was Director of Congressional and Public Affairs at the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security.
